Orlando’s Black Lady Theatre Magic arts collective will be taking over Orlando Museum of Art’s “1st Thursdays” sequence on Feb. 4 with the multimedia occasion Onija.

Onija will be a team exhibition of “portraiture, poetry and performances” all encouraged by Black warriors. &#13

BGTM outlined what the term and theme of “onija” suggests to them in a press statement announcing the event:

For BTGM, the word “onija” intently ties to their fight for reducing racist and ableist boundaries of entry in all sectors of the leisure market. BTGM Program organizer DaZaria Harris states, “This battle has been observed in the course of The us in latest instances with marches protesting the murder of George Floyd, the demand for justice of Breonna Taylor’s murder, advocating for reform, and breaking down systematic racism. We noticed this battling spirit inside of the black people today in America and recognized the warrior in them.” This sequence purposely displays functions from members of the African diaspora to showcase their generational possession of terrific strength.

Onija happens on Feb. 4 at 6 p.m. Tickets are $15 and obtainable to buy by OMA. For those people preferring to remain in, we are pleased to notice that the occasion will be livestreamed as properly.

The art on show will be offered to buy and there will be voting on “Best in Show” and “People’s Choice” on the night.&#13
