FReadom to Read

Two site posts in a row about our Library getting a Secure Place for our LGBTQIA+ kiddos. Why? Since we are aggressively passionate about becoming allies to our youngsters. Also, the information is chock whole of alarming illustrations the place moms and dads, school districts, and communities are NOT supporting the liberty to read through. The democratic independence to give ALL children the choice to find textbooks with out censorship or boundaries.

It boils my blood! Why does it feel like we are likely backwards with FREADom to read?

So, I wished to give you (pricey reader!) an example of our Satisfaction Month e book exhibit, our record of Fiction books, and how we encourage it to our kiddos. Most of this write-up is copied from our Daring College Library Blog site, Instagram posts, &

1 of my most highly regarded Library friends, Laura C. Davies (Adore her!) who I fulfilled when I was keynoting the ASTE Tech Conference in Anchorage Alaska experienced this to say on my Instagram write-up:

“Yes! I have my possess classroom library, complete of various books,
and for the very first time in my vocation I really puzzled if another person
would complain about my selection. I am heading to keep on bringing new
guides into my classroom because pupils who need to have textbooks that persuade
inclusion know where they can obtain them.”

Yes, regrettably, there are some faculty districts and states that want to notify mothers and fathers of the publications they test out!” HORROR!

Why does it seem like we’re going backwards and not forwards? i’d like to listen to what you imagine of the responses. It scares me!
