Fort Gibson Animal Shelter completes renovations | News

FORT GIBSON — Just after many months at Muskogee Animal Shelter, Lulu is back at the Fort Gibson Animal Shelter.

The shelter greeted the pet dog with a new appear right after repainting and upgrading its exterior and interior, which were damaged in the 2019 floods. 

Fort Gibson Animal Command Officer Chris Brassfield mentioned the renovated shelter reopened for animals about 3 weeks ago.

“I thank the Muskogee Animal Shelter for truly assisting us,” he stated. “They housed my animals for me, about 6 weeks, when we began building.”

Fort Gibson renovations include things like central warmth and air.

Brassfield recalled how very hot the shelter got ahead of the new system.

“In the summertime, we bought portable coolers. That helped a bunch,” Brassfield said. “In the winter season, we acquired radiators. That served some. Trying to keep all the doorways closed helped with the heat loss.” 

Contractors put protecting epoxy on the flooring and painted the partitions. Contractors also upgraded doors and did some concrete work. 

“The exterior doors and handles are new. The exit door is new,” he reported. 

10 doggy operates bought new doors that flap open up and shut when the dogs go via them.

“They’re magnetic,” Brassfield reported. “They open up and near quickly.”

Cats now have their very own rooms. Just one place attributes a cat tree. Another cat is in a keeping space.

“I just bought him,” Brassfield mentioned. “He has an eye an infection, so he is in there by himself.”

He claimed the shelter still needs a several contact-ups, but is now operational.
